Addressing a question about reincarnation

I was asked by one of my Facebook friends, who acted like she would die if I didn't tell her, if I believed in reincarnation.  I'm not sure why that would be a topic of conversation (lol), but my answer to that is...No, but, I did in my past life. ;-)

Men on the Down Low or "DL"

Honestly...how do you feel about homosexuality?  Well, it doesn't matter.  You are entitled to your opinion.  I'm entitled to mine.  This post isn't to leave out my not-so-pigmented friends, but I have to deal with an issue that affects the Black community.  -The Down Low or DL Brother-  If you know me, you also know that another passion of mine is HIV/AIDS.  What I've also noticed in our community is we tend not to be as "accepting" of our same-sex couples as our white counterparts.  Not trying to make this a racial thing, but why do you think this virus affects our community so much?  I have one theory.  We don't want the truth!  When our brothers want to "come out", we are ready to pray over them, draw crosses on their foreheads with "holy oil", and send them to the church, where they aren't even welcome.  They are treated like the plague.  Are we enabling the virus to spread because we don't want to accept others' lifestyles?  Could this be one reason the virus is so prevalent in our community more than any other?  Would you not rather a man be honest with you?  Would you rather him act straight and be with another man behind your back in order to live up to your standards?  Before you dog a man out for the lifestyle he chooses...look at it from a different perspective and be grateful he's honest and not trying to play games.

Trust your intuition

Allow your intuition to guide you and follow it fearlessly!  You'll never go wrong. ;-)

Focus on what you have...

When you want something...this could be anything...a car, a home, a significant other, etc.,  you suffer until you get it. Then, after you receive it, the cycle begins AGAIN.  You see where this is going, right?  Life becomes a game of how much you can "get" and that is so not the point of it all. If you don't get what you want, you suffer because you didn't get it.  See if you can...... just "be", not "wanting".  Focus on what you have and you'll see that you already have everything!

Labels and stereotypes...

Labels and stereotypes exists to make other people comfortable.  If you happen to think outside of that "norm", that is easily defined, for some reason you get attacked.  There is nothing in our society that encourages critical thinking.  One of the first things taught in school is the "wait and follow" routine.  Just thinking....and you should too.

Welcome new opportunities!

Being uncomfortable is where the next version of your life begins. Sometimes growth feels like crap!  With that said...be willing to learn new skills that will enhance your being.  Realize our lives are filled with rich experiences.  Know that each day, we have limitless opportunities and each moment is a moment of true expression from within.

Lack of discipline or need to be free?

I've always had a strong NEED for freedom in my life.  I even need to have a sense of freedom in the workplace.  Now...I'm beginning to wonder, do I lack discipline or truly need to be free?  By free...I mean, possibly do freelance/creative work, work for myself, be an artist full time, etc.  Just thinking....

Be unapologetic!

If you're like me, your views and beliefs may change from time to time.  In my opinion, this doesn't make me or you  "unstable".  I think it means that we can accept truth and allow growth in our lives.  To learn is to grow.  So what if your view change like the wind....be grateful that you are open to receive truth from whatever source it comes from.  Enjoy the rhythm of the beautiful expression of God!  I encourage you to open your heart and also be open to truth.  If not...that's ok too.  I am and will continue to be unapologetic.

Compete with who???

Sometimes, in relationships....you are faced with another woman/man.  If you're like me, after being blindsided, the next step is competition (lol).  Some of you would just let him/her go.  After working through the hurt and anger within ourselves, we begin to wonder or question ourselves.  You begin to do a little "research" (which could lead to somewhat stalkerish tendencies lol) on this other person.  You begin asking, "why did they cheat?"  "Is she/he smarter, better body, have more "things", make more money, etc.?"  The list goes "on and on and on", as we say in the South.  After running yourself completely crazy...there comes a time when you have to sit back and realize...life is sooooooo much better when you are only competing with yourself.  You will always stay on top of your game and your biggest challenge is you! ;-)  Move on...or stay (if you chose)  It's your choice.

The ULTIMATE Lesson

Life is uncertain, the future is unknowable, and the unthinkable is always possible!  With that said...know that all is well, vibrant, energized (so focus on positive energy), and above all...all is love!  Live life to the fullest daily!  And so it is!

The "Real" Weapon of Mass Destruction

I'm going to try to keep all of these short and sweet.  During the Bush administration, we heard all of this talk about "weapons of mass destruction", which by the way, were never found (lol).  Moving on...I was talking with someone about a week ago.  She wanted to go back and forth with me about different things that she wasn't "open" to.  In other words, she couldn't see a different viewpoint other than her own.  At that point, I kept thinking about weapons of mass destruction (what the hell, right?? lol).  She started to sound just like the lady in the cartoon, Charlie Brown (wa wa wa wa).  I thought to myself...I've found the "real" weapon of mass destruction!!!  It's called a closed mind....

Namaste'

Thank you for visiting!  For those of you who aren't familiar with the term, Namaste', it simply means, "the Divine in me, blesses and honors the Divine in you."  When I say "the Divine", I am referencing that higher power that is bigger than you and I.  So, feel free to put in place what you chose to call him/her i.e. God, Spirit, Love, Allah, or the Universe.  Beautiful right?  I love it!

Again...everything I post are my thoughts, experiences, and opinions.  Hopefully, there will be something in this blog that will encourage you and inspire you to think outside of your normal circumference of thoughts.  Until we meet again, Namaste ;-)
